Job purpose:
The Research Intern will support the Research Officer in the
coordination and implementation of research activities under the Mwanzo
Bora Nutrition Programme. As a member of a global team of research and
communications practitioners, the Intern will have the opportunity to
contribute to the Research & Learning Group’s work on the synthesis
and analysis of best practice for BBC Media Action’s projects.
Main Duties:
• Support the research and project teams in collecting project monitoring data
• Perform analysis on data collected including sharing findings with the research and project teams
• Support the research team in field data collection of qualitative and quantitative data
• Conduct quality control of outsourced research activities
• Review field work transcripts and provide feedback to transcribers
• Perform data entry of all fieldwork data
• Provide monthly report summaries of analysed data
Required skills, knowledge and experience:
• A university graduate with proven experience or interest of working in the field of research
• Fluency in English and Swahili (Spoken and Written)
• Good interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships
with all staff within the Trust and key stakeholders externally.
• Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation, including relevant staff working for the BBC in the UK.
• Willingness and ability to take the initiative not only in identifying
problems but also in suggesting and implementing solutions.
• An eye for detail and a concern for accuracy, together with the ability to keep sight of the broad picture.
