Location:** Bregenz, Austria, with regular, extensive travel to East Africa **
Contract
date:** Depending on the availability of funding, possible start date
01.03.2015 or earlier. Contract is limited until 28.02.2018. However, a
long-term working relationship beyond 2018 is foreseeable, exploring
different modalities (hiring, part-timing, freelancing – see below:
remuneration pack).
About us: Founded
in 1958, the Aussätzigen-Hilfswerk Österreich (Austrian Leprosy Relief
Association, ALRA) works towards overcoming leprosy in the fight to
combat neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). We strive for inclusion for
those affected by leprosy. This is part of our rights-based approach to
health sector development. Building on the successes of anti-leprosy
work, we focus on capacity development (CD in health education). We are
committed to primary health care (PHC) and the Alma Ata Declaration. We
seek to overcome charity, realising solidarity. The target region of our
work is in greater East Africa (Uganda, Zanzibar and Yemen).

ILEP –
The International Federation of Anti-Leprosy Associations coordinates
the collaboration of its members in order to overcome leprosy around the
world. Resources are pooled, relief programmes receive reciprocal
support, experience is exchanged, and contacts and common strategies are
synchronised with national programmes.
KOO – Koordinierungsstelle der Österreichischen Bischofskonferenz (Coordination
Office of the Austrian Bishops’ Conference). The Coordination Office
promotes and coordinates the commitment of the Austrian Catholic Church
to development and is aimed at raising awareness and creating a sense of
solidarity amongst people in Austria. KOO is a member of CIDSE
(International Cooperation for Development and Solidarity).
Stop TB Alliance–
Initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO), the alliance unites
more than 500 governmental and non-governmental organisations in order
to control and standardise treatment for those infected with
tuberculosis.
Job description:Under the supervision of the general manager, the incumbent will:
Work within various capacities to develop, coordinate and follow-up (including assistance in writing proposals and internal M+E)
Design and follow-up of Capacity Development (CD) initiatives for health professionals with a focus on East Africa
Actively initiate and engage in facilitating CD and change management processes
Carry out other tasks, according to general manager/daily needs
Professional profile (skills and competencies required):
Self-propelled, experienced professional thriving to make lasting change (essential)
Readiness to engage in the nitty-gritty of project work, including budgeting/project accounting (essential)
Full mastery of MS Office, including Excel (essential)
At least a master’s degree (or equivalent) in public health (or a similar discipline: medicine, social science)
Previous work experience in East Africa of at least three years (essential), preferably in the health sector (asset)
Previous
work experience with catholic institutions in the health sector
(asset), as well as a good network in primary health care and medicine
in East Africa (essential)
Previous experience in working and training (health) professionals on various levels (essential)
Proven ability to work inmultidisciplinary and culturally diverse teams (essential)
Proven
familiarity with building on a rights-based approach (either in health
or in another sector such as WASH or education) (essential)
Proven capability and/or experience in steeringchange management interventions (essential)
Proven track record in writing proposals and technical reports (essential)
Proven
methodological competence within M+E, CD (CapacityWorks, familiarity
with LFA, RBM, theory of change, etc. and/or readiness to receive
continuous education in OD in order to advance necessary facilitation

Language skills:excellent command of written and spoken English (essential)
working knowledge of Swahili and German advantageous
Remuneration:
Work contract: expected duration 36 months, 40h/week, including extensive travel
Salary: around 14x ~ EUR 3,500 gross per month, depending on previous professional experience
